Measurement

  • Frequency: Count of behavior occurrences
  • Duration: Time behavior lasts
  • Latency: Time from stimulus to response
  • IRT: Time between consecutive responses
  • Partial Interval: Any occurrence = mark
  • Whole Interval: Entire interval = mark
  • Momentary Time Sampling: Exact moment = mark
  • Permanent Product: Tangible outcome

Functions of Behavior

  • Attention: Behavior to gain social attention
  • Escape: Behavior to avoid/escape demands
  • Tangible: Behavior to gain items/activities
  • Automatic: Internal/sensory reinforcement

Reinforcement Schedules

  • FR (Fixed Ratio): Reinforce after N responses
  • VR (Variable Ratio): Reinforce after avg N responses
  • FI (Fixed Interval): Reinforce after N time
  • VI (Variable Interval): Reinforce after avg N time
  • Continuous: Every correct response reinforced

Differential Reinforcement

  • DRA: Reinforce Alternative behavior
  • DRO: Reinforce Other behavior (absence)
  • DRI: Reinforce Incompatible behavior
  • DRL: Reinforce Low rates of behavior

Prompting Hierarchy

  • Full Physical: Hand-over-hand guidance
  • Partial Physical: Light touch/guidance
  • Modeling: Demonstrate the behavior
  • Gestural: Point or motion cue
  • Verbal: Spoken instruction
  • Visual: Picture or written cue

Chaining Methods

  • Forward Chaining: Teach steps 1→2→3...
  • Backward Chaining: Teach last step first
  • Total Task: Teach all steps each session
