Professional Conduct Practice Questions

Ethics & Boundaries • 15% of RBT Exam

About This Section

Professional Conduct & Scope of Practice covers approximately 15% of the RBT exam (about 11 out of 75 scored questions). This domain focuses on the ethical and professional responsibilities of RBTs in providing behavior analysis services. Review the professional conduct task list for detailed coverage.

You will need to understand the RBT Ethics Code 2.0, which covers responsibilities to clients, responsibilities as a professional, and responsibilities to the profession of behavior analysis. This includes maintaining client dignity, respecting cultural differences, and providing services competently within your scope of practice. Use our flashcards to memorize ethics terminology.

Understanding your scope of practice is critical: RBTs implement behavior plans designed by BCBAs but cannot independently design, modify, or discontinue programs. You must work under ongoing supervision, with a minimum of 5% of your work hours being supervised by a qualified supervisor. Other topics include maintaining professional boundaries, avoiding dual relationships, responding to feedback appropriately, and understanding the RBT renewal process including continuing education requirements.
